Making your own nut butter at home really is as easy as 123 ABC! Cheesy, but true! Recently, I was trying out a peanut butter curry recipe for a family dinner night, and decided I would make my own nut butter to put in it! Peanuts are very easy to find in most supermarkets, and you get serious bang for your buck with the volume of nut butter this makes.
Recipe (Makes 1 jar of nut butter)
Ingredients
- 200g of redskin peanuts
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Optional: Give it a chocolate-y vibe by adding cacao, or sweeten with a little honey, or add a little melted coconut oil!
Method
- Roast the peanuts for 10 minutes in a (fan) oven at 200C.
- Allow the peanuts to cool, then tip them into a blender cup or food processor, add the rest of the ingredients, and blitz until you get to that creamy goodness!
- You’ll probably need to shake the mix (if using something like a Nutribullet) a few times during the blend, or stir if using a food processor. It takes my Nutribullet about 5-7 minutes on full blend to get that liquid consistency!
Enjoy guys – try not to eat it all at once, but no judgement here if you do! Tag me if you try it out – @theirishbalance on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook!
